2023 McKinsey Alumni Retreat
November 3rd-4th Palo Alto, CA
Dear friends and fellow McK Alumni,
We are excited to invite you to the McK Alumni retreat of 2023 that will be held on November 3rd-4th in Palo Alto, CA.
The primary goal behind these retreats has always been to facilitate McKinsey alumni reconnecting with old friends and colleagues, and to provide an informal venue for maintaining the strength of our alumni network beyond the annual official events sponsored by individual McKinsey offices. This is a unique opportunity to meet other successful alumni, learn something new and interesting, and have fun in an intimate format.
Your confirmed registration greatly helps the Host Committee with planning and logistics, so please ensure your attendance by registering for the event ASAP.
Please see below for the complete details for our event:
Date
Friday, November 3rd and Saturday, November 4th
Location
Palo Alto, CA
We have designed these events to represent the best of our shared McKinsey experiences – learning from and having fun in a relaxed, yet impactful environment.
- Capital Connection for investment related presentations
- Ted Talks for content and knowledge sharing
- Dinner and socializing
- Reserve Your Spot
To elaborate on the pitch session module (optional so add-on when registering), there is strong interest from quality VC’s and PE investors in a curated pitch event with McKinsey alumni entrepreneurs. Our aim is to showcase our alumni who have plans to raise capital in the next six months!! If this sounds interesting to you, email me IMMEDIATELY to secure a spot in the pitch event, as we will need to limit the number of presenters. Ditto if you represent capital (corporate VC, VC, PE firm, family office) , as it is helpful to have a broad mix of investors given this is not a sector focused event [email protected]. All attendees are welcome to attend the capital connection event as an observer. Feedback from the last two events from both the entrepreneurs and the investors was that it was a terrific addition to the retreat!!
In line with our prior events, we will be hosting a collection of “Ted Talks” on today’s most relevant, interesting, and educational topics as part of the professional program on Saturday morning.
If you’d like to contribute to the professional program or showcase your expertise/passion in a 15-20 min Ted-style talk, please email me at [email protected].
Topics can be serious, entertaining or educational. One topic already confirmed will be the creation of an alumni led internship job board for high school and college age children of alumni to find quality internships with alumni executives as hosts.
DETAILED AGENDA
We will begin with the formal kick-off of the Retreat on Friday evening with a cocktail reception/group dinner. Saturday, the morning will include a catered breakfast and lunch, with Investment Opportunity Presentations and Ted-Talk alumni content on interesting and eclectic topics. In the past, topics have included presentations on non-verbal communication, emotional leadership, the impact of augmented reality, including demos for all attendees in the latest technologies not even available yet commercially!
Saturday night is a cocktail reception followed by a closing dinner. Usually about half of the attendees are coming in from out of town and stay at a hotel near the event venues.
